The great Samer Alatout has always stood his ground and spoke truth to power in his essential and inspiring scholarship on water, colonialism and political ecology. Now he is under attack for standing by his students ✊🏼🍉
New #Israeli_bombing of a seven-storey residential building near to our refugee shelter in Al Zaytoun neighbourhood of #Gaza_City !
Pro-Israel counterprotestors started tearing down UCLA encampment barriers and screamed 'Second nakba!' referring to the mass displacement & dispossession of Palestinians during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. Per Los Angeles Times Safi Nazzal on the scene with another video:

This is a major development. It’s been weeks since “Screams without Words” fell apart. The The New York Times should do the right thing, and retract it and apologize for this journalistic malpractice.
1. The The Guardian points out today that 'Israel has also destroyed every university in Gaza, in addition to killing at least 5,479 students, 261 teachers and 95 university professors, according to the UN, which has condemned Israel’s actions as “scholasticide”.'
2. And yet there…
'The law is clear here. What is not clear is what has happened at the State Dept. and who, if anyone, besides Sec. Blinken may be implicated.'
Rep. Katie Porter, who received a briefing from the State Dept., says it is sitting on memos of human rights violations by the IDF.
