Time for the great reveal! Here it is in all of its glory, a 1630s-40s picture made in a professional embroidery workshop in England. The object features a variety of motifs, combining figural, natural, and architectural imagery to create a glittering, highly textured composition

I don't think I've come across a place that captures so evocatively the memory of the past within the fabric, as the sea of steps at Wells Cathedral.

The Old Wellington Inn and Sinclair’s Oyster Room in Manchester were once a house, built around the mid-16th century.

This photograph was taken in 1971 when the building was underpinned and raised to fit the new street level. It was later moved as Shambles Square was developed.
