May Day, May Day (or, ‘mayday mayday’)! I’m not really trying to strangle myself but… Thank you ⁦Dr Nicola Tallis⁩ for the photo and Gladstone’s Land in Edinburgh for the opportunity.

I’ve been in a lot of great churches. But I’m not sure ⁦Hexham Abbey⁩, with the rare night stairs here, isn’t the most beautiful I’ve ever seen.

Admit this example is less than inspiring, but a Bloody Mary and a club sandwich spell travel to me. Because who makes them at home? Anyone else have something they only ever eat/drink when on the hoof?

Animal adventures contd. Walking into my (small) kitchen and finding a peacock in possession is possibly a step too far.

2/2 Animal adventures contd. Couldn’t get why there was a carving knife stuck in the handles of the kitchen doors. Then remembered it was to stop the dog, who’d been wound up by the peacocks, eating the plumber, who’d cone to repair the mouse damage… ‘For want of a nail’ etc!

I may have to start a new feed to chronicle my resident wildlife. Beginning of course with the Hound of the Rexicles, continuing with the peacocks and hopefully ending with the mouse (rat???) who’s just chewed through the pipes of the washing machine and flooded the place…

Just spent literally 1hr 45 minutes on hold re Haringey Council Tax…Only to be told the advisor I spoke to last summer, after my husband’s death, was wrong, and I owe them £4800, not the £3000 stated. Hey, Haringey Council, ever think of setting up a dedicated bereavement line?

I swear if I die, they’re going to find the words ‘probate’ and ‘tax liability’ engraved on my heart.

Woken by peacock pair in the garden (who then set the dog off barking). Anne Boleyn reputedly ordered them banned from any house where she slept. And Anne Boleyn had a point.
