Councils' anti-car policies are wrecking Britain's town centres and forcing a large number of local businesses to close down. The authorities clearly don't give a damn about the economic impact of their war on motorists. thetimes.co.uk/article/parkin…

A quick reminder that, over a several years, Oxfordshire County Council never bothered to evaluate the air quality in central Oxford, to determine whether there was any need to spend millions of pounds developing a zero emmision zone.

So we did: air quality is pretty good.

Oxford traffic filters will free the roads to make way for their new fleet of electric buses. Yet 2000 electric buses have been recalled across the UK due to critical fire risk. How safe are these new electric vehicles?! dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

Councillor Cllr Emily Kerr 💚 suggests businesses in LTNs are going from “strength to strength” yet business owners think differently. If people can’t get to an area it’s only logical that footfall will reduce and businesses lose customers

A lot of infrastructure and money (£6.5m!) for just a trial wouldn’t you say? Especially with an £11.2m deficit. Not only reducing traffic but also people’s pockets and local businesses as well, whilst increasing the cost of living and daily stress.

Lambeth council made £50 million in fines from LTNs over 4 years. Traffic restrictions, fines and WPLs come in very handy when you’re in deficit don’t they? How much will you be making Oxfordshire County Council on the imminent traffic filters?! telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/02/2…

In a recent FOI ⁦Oxfordshire County Council⁩ says “for initial planning purposes, and making a series of broad assumptions about the [WPL] scheme, we have previously estimated an income of £41.9m over a10 year period.” Imagine how £4.1m per year could help with children’s education!

“A teacher in a car is still a car” says Andrew Gant which just shows that your method of travel is still more important to Oxfordshire County Council than the education of children. thisisoxfordshire.co.uk/news/24135455.…

Yesterday OCC Labour leader Liz Brighouse said: 'Councillor Gant I can assure you that with every breath of my body I will stop you from implementing Workplace Parking Levies.'

She then voted in favour of spending millions developing a workplace parking levy.

Don't be like Liz.

After hearing that the planned £600 per-year-per-space staff car park tax would exacerbate a teacher recruitment and retention crises, Oxfordshire County Council's transport chief was his usual empathetic self at today's budget meeting.

The scheme will cost millions to develop.

At County Hall today for the budget meeting for the next financial year. I cannot in good faith support the LibDem/Green motorist hammering budget. They want to squeeze every penny out of drivers to fund their pet projects.
