2/4 Dr. Guion S. Bluford Jr. became the 1st African-American to go to #space , aboard #STS8 . He spent over 699 hrs in space before retiring in 1993, and was inducted into the United States Astronaut Hall of Fame in 2010. He is currently President of the Aerospace Technology Group.
