Today is the half way mark for Probationers from Course 03/23 in their initial training course. In 3 weeks, another intake of Probationers, Course 01/24, will arrive at Police Scotland College. This new model allows more regular intakes whilst enhancing training time. #LifeOfAProbationer

Course 03/23 have moved on to the Crime module this week.

Having learned about crimes of disorder, violence and acquisitive crime, this afternoon they will be shown how to interview arrested persons who are suspected of committing offences.

Following a successful visit last year, Fife College returned to Police Scotland Headquarters today.

The new students were shown around the college grounds, given an input on standards and able to watch some OST refreshers.

Today's PE session for Course 03/23 consisted of three circuits, including a bleep test, core exercises and strength training.

This was a lighter session, as the Probationers have their second mandatory fitness test on Friday.

Today we say farewell to PC Louise McCombes, who returns to BTP Scotland after a 3 year secondment to Probationer Training. PC McCombes has seen thousands of new recruits complete their initial training during her time at Tulliallan. We wish her all the best for the future. @BTP

Course 03/23 had their first Drill session today.

The Probationers will rehearse these manoeuvres throughout the course, before demonstrating them in front of friends and family at their Passing Out Parade in June.

First Aid training for Probationers from Course 03/23 is now complete. Their training included things such as

➡️ Primary survey
➡️ Recovery position
➡️ Catastrophic bleeding (including wound packing, tourniquets and pressure bandages)
➡️ CPR / AED's

Operational Safety Training is almost complete for our new Probationers.

During the initial 7 day programme, officers are taught a range of techniques and shown how to use their PPE.

Maintaining a good level of physical fitness is important for police officers.

This morning, half of the Probationers from Course 03/23 received their first formal inspection.

With the Evidence module now complete for half of Course 03/23, the Probationers will spend today applying the knowledge they've gained in the classroom during a day of practical exercises. #LifeOfAProbationer

It has been a rather wet day here at Police Scotland College, but that hasn't stopped the Probationers from Course 03/23 immersing themselves in this afternoons airwave practical exercise. #LifeOfAProbationer

Following lessons on Valuing Diversity & Inclusion, Probationers from Course 03/23 are hearing from a variety of Staff Associations today, including SEMPER Scotland SWDF Scottish LGBTI Police Association DACA Police Scotland Scottish Police Muslim Association and the Christian Police Association. #LifeOfAProbationer

The first week of the initial training course for Probationers from Course 03/23 is complete.

After swearing their Oath on Wednesday, the students had inputs on Human Rights, the National Decision Model and Health & Wellbeing.

195 new officers swore the Oath of Office today at Police Scotland Headquarters, Tulliallan, in front of our Chief Constable Jo Farrell.

They will complete 12-weeks of initial training before being deployed throughout our communities.
