Suzannah Lipscomb Viæ Regiæ ... and that's another 1,362 16th-century place-names I've added in the past three days (using @[email protected]'s Pelagios #Recogito annotation software), making 18,609 in total. Herefordshire next.

Suzannah Lipscomb Viæ Regiæ @[email protected] Pelagios ... The beginning of the end is in sight! 19,482 16th-century place-names geolocated, and only Northumberland remaining. And then checking everything, of course.
Thanks again to all the Viæ Regiæ volunteers who helped to get the project this far. 👏

The mapping interface is powered by @[email protected]'s magnificent Peripleo system (software dev partly funded by Towards a National Collection British Library) and enables searches based around geocoded findspots and the publicly accessible geodata sourced from Portable Antiquities
In 2013, the Arts and Humanities Research Council funded @micropasts project began a journey to use the power of the crowd to digitise thousands of index cards in the British Museum focused on Bronze Age metalwork. A new website combines these with Portable Antiquities at bronze-age-index.micropasts.org #Archaeology
