During Prof Sue Page #WeAreTheUniversity 💙💚 and myself visited all sorts of Falkland peat, from covered in sphagnum to bare areas at the start of restoration. I also challenged myself to write a piece for Penguin News encouraging others to visit peatlands too rb.gy/cu9baq

Two stories of mine on the front today - a report on government budget proposals, including a push for government to find £5m in cuts - or 'savings' as they're referred to in the documentation.

The weather today is stunning so I ate lunch outside. Tasty sandwich provided by the Teaberry Cafe at the Falkland Islands Museum & National Trust, where I also took the chance to wander around some of the fascinating historic buildings like the blacksmiths.

Front page this week: Falklands MLAs were recently split on whether to increase electricity costs or not, and how much to increase the cost by if it was to be subsidized. Nicholas Roberts reports, asking MLAs for individual reasoning behind supporting the recent hike or not.

Another week, another paper, and my words on another front page of Penguin News!
Electricity prices have been rising here in the Falklands, after discovering the rice in electricity cost was cause for debate I spoke to members of Falkland Islands Gov about their individual views.

From last week's Penguin News - a piece I put together from the visit of HRH The Princess Royal to the Falkland Islands, including photos from myself; Lisa Watson and Government House🇬🇧🇫🇰.
A wonderful visit, and getting the photos down to two pages proved to be a challenge

All telecoms services are provided by a monopoly in the Falklands - operated by Sure.
Recent it was announced that service would see improvement thanks to some continued government investment. Reception on the news was lukewarm, so I gave my thoughts.

James Sunderland MP acknowledged that Brexit 'hasn't been particularly kind to you guys' and that 'given that we've got Brexit done' he had hopes that work could be done to 'renegotiate with the European Union' as 'your £15m of tariffs a year is a huge hit.'

The Princess Royal this afternoon planted a tree in Memorial Wood in Stanley, which commemorates members of the British forces who died in 1982.
Afterwards, she was shown Falklands Scouts to a flower bed which has been maintained by generations of Scouts members.
