Day two of the Peter Mac Cancer Centre Research Symposium has started with Ben Hogan opening proceedings. We have a day filled with opportunities to interact with each other and hear about new research concepts, lived experiences and the next big idea.

Engaging research consumers is so important and helps us address how patients can be kept in mind when designing research. Two research consumers shared their thoughts at the Peter Mac research symposium on how to share and exchange ideas to get the best out of #Research .

In the news today, some incredibly exciting Peter Mac research, using ovarian, breast and colon cancer models, has identified a gene that can be stimulated to make the CAR T-cells younger, fitter, more dynamic & effective in fighting solid tumours.

Excited to finally see this work come out online Nature Portfolio. In this work we identify FOXO1 overexpression as a strategy to improve CAR T cell persistence and metabolic function using CAR T derived from mice, healthy donors and cancer patients.

.Luc Furic will be presenting PMR-116, a second generation RNA Polymerase I inhibitor AACR on 8 April 13:30 session. His team uncovered that PMR-116 significantly reduced cancer growth in a wide range of tumor models. Next step is Phase II dosing!
