I love Galen but I think this argument assumes what it's trying to prove (or as we philosophers say 'begs the question'). Premise 2 in particular assumes libertarianism is false.

There are real objective skills in analysing concepts and dealing with the logical structure of arguments. It's wonderful to see students getting better in these skills as the degree progresses. It's not easy!

sandipchitale Philip Goff My personal experience (as someone with graduate degrees in both philosophy and neuroscience) is that expertise in philosophy is much harder to acquire than science & the idea that one can just pick it up and take a weekend to solve a philosophical problem is disciplinary hubris
