1/5 🙌 Reflecting on our time at #INC4 , it’s clear that our Coalition has come a long way. Starting with just five scientists at INC-1 in Uruguay, we have grown to more than 350 worldwide with 60 joining this past week in #Ottawa .

Great to welcome two youth participants ⁦Hidden Plastic⁩ to our ⁦University of Plymouth⁩ event. Staggering there are only 4 under 18s at #INC4 Ottawa. A key reason we are here is to safeguard our planet for the next generation! I hope more youngsters manage to gain access to #INC5

❗️This is a key message from science: to effectively tackle the #PlasticsCrisis , we need to reduce the production of primary #plastics ! Plastic does not disappear, so it accumulates on our planet. When burned, it increases emissions of GHGs & highly toxic fumes or residues. #INC4

Critically important this commences without delay. The process needs to be informed by independent observers, including scientists. We should ensure any uses of plastic and plastic chemicals are essential, safe and sustainable. This will require transparency along supply chains.
