After a couple of weeks away I’m so glad to be back at Royal College of Music Junior Department today. It’s inspiring and gives so much energy to work with these engaging and enthusiastic young musicians.
Watching our 4 Pathways (& Prior Weston Primary) Grads, now Royal College of Music attendees, up on stage at Southbank Centre for a masterclass with our ambassador Randall Goosby this evening, followed by our brilliant Grad Ambassador Emily, was a wonderful way to end the week 🤩 #fridayfeeling
It was a great joy to be able to adjudicate the Royal College of Music guitar competition yesterday. Some wonderful playing - I really enjoyed hearing everyone! Lovely department, too! Congrats to Sacha Bistany for his intense and, ultimately, winning performance of the Ginastera sonata!

#OTD in 1943, English conductor and composer Leslie Heward died aged just 45. He studied under #Parry , #Stanford and #Boult at the Royal College of Music after winning a scholarship in 1917. He destroyed many of his own works, but left 2 operas and a handful of orchestral and chamber works.
It was lovely to welcome the brilliant Royal College of Music artist Cristiana Achim to Brixton Concert Series, presenting a programme of works by Ravel, Copland/Bernstein, Granados, Enescu and holding a world premiere of Sobhan Afsarian's 'Homeland'.
