Lovely interview with Paul Powlesland about weaving nature protection into every aspect of his life.

He tells his story in Chapter 5 of Wild Service, 'Guardianship'.

The sand martins get me every time!

Enjoyed sharing some thoughts on a right to roam for Ireland UCC Ireland in Cork last week! I suggested that we can and should talk about the RTR when discussing environmental rights, and this should be an all-island issue...👣🌳

Leachate from illegal landfill sites (like the 27,000 tonnes dumped in Hoad’s Wood, Kent) poses significant environmental & health risks due to its complex composition & ability to pollute waterways.

Here is a short thread on what leachate is, how it forms, and its impacts 🧵/1

Right to Roam Taking the piss. You can drive down a road near the house and even visit the golf club 100m from the house. Yet you cant walk along a path a lot futher away. Not only that, 95% of the path would be in a wood, not a park or a garden.

That’s Bengairn in the distance. I can reach the top in an hour or so. I hop the garden fence, cross the farm, then it’s all uphill, pushing through bracken and heather, a different route each time. In England and Wales this wouldn’t be possible. But for how much longer?

UK govt just confirmed what we reported earlier, that it's imposing a 2-year delay on a bottle return scheme to boost recycling.

The excuse? Making it 'interoperable' in 4 UK nations. I must have missed something because UK had 4 nations in 2018 when the idea was first floated

'We human beings are not merely observers of nature, we are an integral part of it, and our future depends on protecting it.'

We agree Steve Reed. Our ecological future rests on bringing people back into nature: physically, educationally, spiritually. Access 🤝 guardianship.

We're naming our coastal path after the royal family while... diverting it around anywhere the Royals once lived. Commemoration as obfuscation. Feudalism lives on.

Never thought of going to the Isle of Wight before but fancy a spot of trespassing. You can’t call it the KCIII coastal path and then divert it inland round a palace.

Leif Bersweden Right to Roam This passage really stood out: rope swing as revolutionary act.

At a point in time where we seem to increasingly lock passionate, engaged young people up rather than respond to their concerns about the collapse of the natural world there is something wonderful about this act.
