This my view, too. I enjoyed Rex's writing and his contrarianism. But his best, most valuable and (to me) most memorable work was on Cross Country Checkup. We need more people and shows like this to help us understand eachother and tie our big, zany country together. RIP Rex.

The right used to favour 'non-partisan' local politics. No more, and it's a good thing.

West will almost certainly end up running for Poilievre or one of the centre-right BC parties, whereas 15-20 years ago he would have ended up in the NDP. Story is a single fascinating anecdote of how both the parties and the working class have shifted in that period.

I always thought that if I was engaged in civil disobedience, I'd welcome getting arrested. Isn't that part of the point?

Just want to point out a day late that the opposition criticising and holding the government accountable in flamboyant and attention-grabbing ways is good (within reason) and serves the public interest.

My condolences to all the SSHRC applicants who didn't get a scholarship this year.
And to those who did: huge congrats! But don't gloat. Once you find out 'how the sausage is made', you realize how many extremely deserving students get left out.
