Daniel is right, this whole story has been going on for awhile and is bananas but its hardly made any waves outside of SK media

Not so for most of the Mennonites -- although in fairness I guess a certain number did take off for Mexico or Paraguay after a few years

Do not treat door knocking candidates this way

Just tell them you aren't interested and say goodbye, that's all

No need to be rude

This my view, too. I enjoyed Rex's writing and his contrarianism. But his best, most valuable and (to me) most memorable work was on Cross Country Checkup. We need more people and shows like this to help us understand eachother and tie our big, zany country together. RIP Rex.

100%. Should also be noted that this colleague, less than a year ago, won a UM Faculty of Arts Teaching Excellence Award in part due to her teaching in precisely this course.

I always thought that if I was engaged in civil disobedience, I'd welcome getting arrested. Isn't that part of the point?

Just want to point out a day late that the opposition criticising and holding the government accountable in flamboyant and attention-grabbing ways is good (within reason) and serves the public interest.

My condolences to all the SSHRC applicants who didn't get a scholarship this year.
And to those who did: huge congrats! But don't gloat. Once you find out 'how the sausage is made', you realize how many extremely deserving students get left out.

🚨New paper with Marc Bodet and Véronique Boucher-Lafleur is now online at Representation. We look at turnout in provincial and federal elections since 1945 and find a strong and significant “fatigue effect”. Which, we argue, in part explains turnout decline.
