Roland with the @sf_dph BEST Neighborhoods team helps get his clients into the system of care, connecting them with substance use treatment and other services. “As a recovering addict myself, it gives me a warm feeling when someone changes their relationship with substances.”

In the first year the team has operated, the Department of Public Health said BEST has connected around 1,100 unhoused clients to mental-health services, substance-use treatment, medical care or shelter.
