Great morning spent in a bog! We cannot under estimate the power of our boggy peatlands in carbon sequestration and in enabling biodiversity to flourish.
We even saw frogs, hares, curlews and pheasants 🐸🌿
Nature Champions
We were delighted to be joined by Nature Champions, Elena Whitham MSP & Sue Webber MSP 💜, at Red Moss of Balerno this morning to discuss the value of 🏴's peatlands for people, nature and climate!
#DYK that peat soils cover >20% of Scotland and store around 1.6 billion tonnes of carbon?!
Great piece by Dr Deborah Long of

Climate change is affecting Scottish farming, with extreme weather occurring more frequently. Farming is also Scotland's 2nd biggest source of emissions.
Scottish Government must support farmers to make the transition to sustainable farming.

There's lots farmers can do, from planting hedgerows and woodlands to creating ponds. Learn more from Vicki Swales of RSPB Scotland in this video.

Great to hear from Dr Shivali Fifield of Environmental Rights Centre for Scotland at the Scottish Environment LINK fringe this morning talking about the need for access to justice for nature - without the threat of legal action or enforcement we can't hold climate criminals to account properly.
