Why has the United States handled this pandemic so badly? The Editors note that although we came into this crisis with enormous advantages, our current political leaders have demonstrated that they are dangerously incompetent.

During this unfortunate Brigham and Women's Hospital COVID-19 outbreak, blaming us, the “weary” workers, is not the solution. As a resident affected by this outbreak, here are the realities of why healthcare workers NEED routine rapid testing:

A lot of people have asked about the whistleblower complaint re forced/coerced/unindicated hysterectomies. That a horrible OB/GYN is doing this for money and/or eugenics by partnering with a private detention facility is sadly very believable. 1/

I was taking care of a patient the other day who was very seriously injured. And I stepped out to talk to his family briefly and give them an update. For context, he was Black. I told them what was going on quickly and asked if they had any questions. And this is what they said.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions from my non-Black friends about how to be a better ally to Black people. I suggest unlearning and relearning through literature as just one good jumping off point, and have broken up my anti-racist reading list into sections:

Y'all the Dean of Harvard Medical School just named systemic racism as the cause of disparate suffering of Black people (COVID-19 and beyond) and quoted Langston Hughes in his letter. No beating around the bush, straight facts.

We have ALOT more work to do but I'm here for it.
