What an amazing New Colombo Plan Project in Palau. Thanks Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade 🇦🇺 for the support. 15 Flinders University students now have their occupational diving cert or up-skilled their diving credentials while learning fish ID and behaviour eg the incredible humphead parrotfish spawning

We’ve spent the last two weeks in #Palau becoming #AAUS Scientific Divers, apart of the #NCP 🤿

Break from diving today with a land tours to some cultural and historic Palauan sites: traditional Bai (meeting place), World War II relic, Capitol (government house) strangely familiar (think US…), stone monoliths from ~AD 150 #NewColomboPlan New Colombo Plan Project

Very lucky to be in Palau for one of my honours topic; getting my AOW and Rescue Diver whilst learning about fish identification. Also had the opportunity to go to a local school and talk about shark conservation 🦈

School visit to teach kids about threats to shark conservation. The Palauan kids had all seen and swam with sharks before and don’t have the negative stigma that many westerners have. Course progressing well: 3 days of diving, sharks, manta rays, turtles, incredible fish diversity on the edge of the coral triangle, eDNA and stable isotope lectures, dciem table course and test.
