Our River Calder restoration project was completed in 2021. Fast forward 3 years, and this is what it looks like…

Thanks to large deer-fenced enclosures in an area that was devoid of river-side trees, there is now a large amount of natural woodland regeneration.

It was a freezing -14C last night in Dalwhinnie.

The Met Office reports that this marks the coldest January night in Britain since 2019! And it looks like the mercury is set to plummet again tonight.🌡️🥶

The #RiverSpey is looking beautiful just now, decked in its gorgeous winter colours.❤️

Great news! Our Upper Spey River Restoration Project is already helping Atlantic Salmon spawn.🥳

The gravel deposits that form below these structures are often perfect for spawning salmon in the winter & the pools above for keeping juvenile salmon cool in the summer.😁

Redd counts within the Spey Catchment Initiative Initiatives Upper Spey River Restoration Project show a small increase in redds along this stretch, from 2 last year to 6 this year.

Let's hope this trend continues as this habitat continues to improve for both spawning and juvenile salmon.

Even in freezing temperatures it's amazing what you will find if you look close enough...

Our team were out looking for new sites where the 'Flailbot' can be used to encourage natural regeneration.🌱

We are excited to announce that we will be expanding this technique to other areas soon. 🥳

It's amazing to see the Allt Lorgy in action, a dynamic river that's always crafting & redesigning its own environment.

Aviemore to Grantown on Spey this morning. I found myself a couple of packrafting buddies. Both voles climbed up my grab rope and into my raft. I paddled to shore and lifted them back out onto the bank.
