Out today in Health Affairs:

If you have a child that needs residential treatment for OUD, the average out-of-pocket cost for a month of treatment is $26,353.

Twenty-three states in the US have no residential treatment facility, or don't have one that accepts Medicaid.

'Patients who spent the night in the ED had a higher in-hospital mortality rate of 15.7% vs 11.1% (adjusted risk ratio [aRR], 1.39; 95% CI, 1.07-1.81)

Lack of hospital capacity/teams leads to long waits (>24 hours) in the ED and is associated with bad outcomes
