An officer is recovering in hospital after tackling a man with a knife in Enfield.

We commend his bravery and that of the medics who attended. This is a shocking and appalling attack.

The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Today marks 40 years since WPC Yvonne Fletcher was shot and killed on duty as she policed a protest in St James’s Square.

This morning Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley visited the scene and laid a wreath in Yvonne’s memory.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends and colleagues.

Last night The London Eye was lit up yellow to celebrate the RNLI’s 200th anniversary. And of course we were on hand to capture the moment with the night’s duty crew - Steve King, Craig Burn, Paul Tattam and Conor Hudson - on lifeboat E-07 Hurly Burly.

Today, we celebrate 200 years of saving lives at sea.

Thanks to our incredible volunteers, who give their time to save others, and the kindness of supporters like you, we can always answer the call for help.

Mounted Branch will be patrolling in the Soho and Covent Garden areas tonight between 5pm and 8pm as part of an operation to prevent violence against women and girls. Specifically targeting predatory behaviour around the night time economy.

South East Territorial Support Group Officers deployed to support Croydon MPS yesterday with this Live Facial Recognition operation.

Some fantastic arrests and some really dangerous criminals taken off of our streets.

I'm really proud of what they do to keep Londoners safe.

Our #Wellbeing Room has been open for over 2 years. It’s now used as a library, pantry (free food for staff and officers) and a chair massage room.
I must admit I was worried it wouldn’t remain in its original state - but I’m proud of how people have looked after it 🥰

During the Changing of the Guard this morning, officers noticed a child at the front getting upset because of the large crowd.

To help calm him down, officers invited him over the barrier to have a closer view of the ceremony.
