I volunteered at Alachua Schools Littlewood Elementary over the past month to teach students about sea turtles once a week. We touched 3D printed skulls, identified species with a dichotomous key, talked about life span, and evaluated threats to sea turtles.

On yesterday’s panel a noticed a key theme: supportive advisors. Also supportive committees.

Institutions need to change! Let’s not forget that.

BUT, I am so grateful to have had an advisor that would have stood up for me, no matter what.
