Great day yesterday at Bank Island with two Ospreys through during the afternoon, before an appearance of a Slavonian Grebe later on York Birding

No sign of the Slavonian Grebe on Bank Island this morning, but it has been replaced by a Black-necked Grebe #PWC2024

1 1/2 hours in the wind and rain after work looking for the 4 Wheatears that were seen on patch this morning with no joy!!! But still, plenty of Yellow wagtails playing hide and seek in the furrows

In the plughed field south of Naburn by the cycle track at Moor Lane, Naburn 47+ yellow wags and 60+ pied (min 2 white wag) plus 45 yellowhammer 15 corn, 25 Reed bunting & 60 Skylark

Nice to receive a sighting of a colour-ringed Shelduck (‘ZA’) seen at RSPB Newport Wetlands recently. From our ringing studies we know that most of our Shelduck move east-west to the northwest coast, Martin Mere WWT and the Dee Estuary, so this one is a bit of an outlier York Birding
