Good days birding. After a slow start with just the Scaup flock at North Duffield, hirundine passage picked up in pm and a call from LDV NNR resulted in 3rd!!! garden Osprey of the spring, and peaked this evening finding sum plum Slav Grebe at Bank Island

No sign of the Slavonian Grebe on Bank Island this morning, but it has been replaced by a Black-necked Grebe #PWC2024

Fantastic evening of local birding in the LDV NNR. After drake Scaup at North Duffield Carrs, found Common Scoter at Aughton & an exquisite Black-necked Grebe at Wheldrake Ings, then twitched Oliver Metcalf's splendid Slavonian Grebe at Bank Island. Oh, and a smart Great Egret too!

At least 13 Yellow wagtails (some in stunning summer plumage) in one field on patch today with

1 1/2 hours in the wind and rain after work looking for the 4 Wheatears that were seen on patch this morning with no joy!!! But still, plenty of Yellow wagtails playing hide and seek in the furrows

Nice to receive a sighting of a colour-ringed Shelduck (‘ZA’) seen at RSPB Newport Wetlands recently. From our ringing studies we know that most of our Shelduck move east-west to the northwest coast, Martin Mere WWT and the Dee Estuary, so this one is a bit of an outlier York Birding
