We are pleased to share that our Dir. (Forensics | Death Penalty Litigation) Shreya Rastogi was longlisted for the India Science Book Fellowship by Foundation for Advancing Science and Technology. The fellowship is aimed at fostering the writing of popular non-fiction #science books by Indian authors.

Justice was done for Bilkis Bano in the face of blatant illegality.

But there are thorny issues in state remission policies.

State policies often exclude certain crime categories from the benefit of remission. How does that sit with the aims of punishment?

No easy answers.

Justice Nagarathna began 2023 with her terrific dissents in the demonetisation & the Ministers hate speech cases

And begins 2024 with a terrific judgement applying the law as it should be.

In these times, even straightforward application of the law must not be taken for granted

When will see such empathetic and widespread reporting of suffering that thousands of other undertrials also undergo?

And not just of undertrials like Naresh Goyal.

We completely desensitised to the suffering of the poor in our prisons.

For so many of us, these 2 teachers and these 2 courses completely changed the way we thought about society and the law.

At Project 39A, National Law University, Delhi, 2023 was a year that challenged us in many ways, but it was also a year that strengthened our resolve.
