Always a great pleasure to hold an interdisciplinary lecture Diplomatische Akademie Wien! This time, I outlined the impact of #China ’s and #Russia ’s #geoeconomic / #geopolitical influence on the #WesternBalkans , while reviewing the role of the #EU 's #GlobalGatewayInitiative on the region.

#HDZ has over 60 mandates, but #SDP also performed well. With rigtht-wing DP & minorities or liberals, HDZ would have a majority, but DP is against the Serbian minority. Leftist #Možemo could imagine a socdem minority gov (supported by left-greens and far-right). #izbori2024

Glad that my analysis about #LNG capacities in the #WesternBalkans was published by wiiw. The governments of #Croatia , #Montenegro and #Serbia are investing in the expansion of natural gas capacities. LNG could facilitate the phasing-out of #coal use in the region by 2050.
