Yesterday brought the inaugural World Fire Congress (WFC) to a close. 56 countries came together in Washington, D.C. to establish a path for the voices of first responders to be heard around the world.

Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre data reported 18.5 million hectares burned in 10 provinces and two territories in 2023.

➡️ Approximately 1.47 million hectares have burned so far.

➡️ Southern NT entering a drier period post-thaw;

Today, Mins Sajjan, Wilkinson, Guilbeault, and PS Romanado held a press conference to share the latest projections for the 2024 #wildfire season, which include potential hazards that may affect Canadians, and highlighted preparedness measures.

Volunteer firefighters are the heroes of our communities. They sacrifice their time and put their lives on the line for their neighbours. We are so proud to be doubling their tax credit — because that’s what’s fair and that’s what these brave women and men deserve.
