Today marks the start of 16 Days of Activism aimed at ending violence against women & girls. As a woman, Mum, Cllr, friend, I get fed up of empty words and slogans in this arena. Governments globally need to step up to address how we do this.

On #EqualPayDay , Fawcett Society say at our current pace, women 40+ won’t see an end to the gender pay gap in their working life.

We need change! As North East Mayor I’ll work as hard to smash the gender pay gap as to smash the North South divide.

Equal pay isn’t a lot to ask.
