@dimredspectre Paul Ferguson πŸ’™πŸ’› In the Thames Estuary in the UK there is a sunken mmunition ship from World War II that pokes out of the sea at low tide.

It's a shipping hazard buy we've been told it cannot be blown up as property in a wide radius would be damaged. I imagine it would be something similar.

@dimredspectre Paul Ferguson πŸ’™πŸ’› It's called the SS Richard Montgomery and went down in 1944. It's split in two which allows the tide to pull loose pieces of cargo (bombs) out and deposit them on the shore occasionally.

@dimredspectre ✨ The first image of Beirut shows a total approximate radius of about 10 miles (for us American folk that don't understand km) so it would actually look more like this in NY if we're trying to be accurate. In other words, still a huge πŸ’₯!

Eddie Bradley @dimredspectre Caitlin Moran It looks like the original picture shows 15km radius, the google maps are made with 15mi radius. 10x off is a stretch. This is what 15km looks like in all three locations

@dimredspectre More like this. And if you click the option to show radioactive fallout, you'll see the real reason why comparisons to Hiroshima are unwarranted.

Salty Butch Beach Chicken @dimredspectre 2000 dead and 9000 injured in Halifax, in an explosion estimated 2.5x larger. I'm guessing building standards of 1917 vs 2020 make a big difference. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halifax_E…
