We understand why Law Society Scotland have reached this point. The lack of progress made by ScotGov Justice should embarrass them. However it is entirely consistent with their decades long mismanagement of the Legal Aid fund. Today is a consequence of their inaction.

On the day Law Society Scotland withdraw from the review of #legalaid partly because we are told there is no guarantee any money will be invested as the cupboard is bare a new £80M is announced by Scottish Government . ScotGov Justice need to prioritise immediate investment in legal aid.

Extraordinary decision for Law Society Scotland to withdraw from these discussion. This is the strongest action LANT could have taken and it’s an embarrassing failure from ScotGov Justice. Well done Ian Moir
