I so enjoyed being interviewed by the terrific Isabel Camara for Five Books and recommending books by Jackie Kay, Viv Albertine, Maggie O’Farrell, Jeanette Winterson and Vera Brittain as great memoirs by women

To boost our health and protect the oceans, we should eat more ‘unloved fish’ such as mackerel and herring and even farm protein-packed shipworms, argues Fellow David Willer in Financial Times today

For 17 years I was the Head of News and Current Affairs at Channel Four in the UK. When you move on, you let others carry the baton. But now I must say it is wrong for Israel to shut down Al Jazeera. Their journalism has been some of the finest I ever saw.

I look for reward to watching this film. The world seems to have forgotten Ukraine. Well done Dispatches for reminding us.

So proud to present the Grierson Trust Trustees Award to Anna Hall whose brilliant films I have admired for decades and who is now pioneering a new more family-friendly way of women working in television so they don’t have to choose between their children and their careers

For nearly 20 years I was the boss of Krishnan at Channel Four, but it’s been on the BBC he has been a revelation to us all. He really can dance, but also he has given of himself and shown himself in a way male journalists hardly ever do. And he’s shown it’s a great thing to do.
