New @AWEN Advisory Committee led by President Agnes Bikoko of Cameroon elected in Accra this afternoon to champion gender equality in Africa.

African Women in Education Network committee members, meeting in Accra, Ghana, from 11 - 14 December 2023, call on African governments to address gender inequalities in and through education and to invest in quality public education for all.

'We call for a quality public school for every Nigerian and for every African child', Dennis Sinyolo said. He added that governments need to take concrete legislative, financing, and other measures to bring an end to privatisation and commercialisation of education.

'Governments also need to meet their obligation and commitment to ensure equitable, inclusive quality public education for all by investing in education NOW!', he stressed at the EI/NUT/FES Workshop on Privatisation & Commercialisation of Education in Nigeria.

Today in Accra @GNAT and @CTF/FCE launched a book chronicling 60 years of cooperation and solidarity through the teachers teaching teachers to teach programme. Congratulations!!!

At the Education International Africa Regional Committee meeting today in Johannesburg, South Africa, David Edwards said quality education requires quality teaching, for all students, in all circumstances, which means employing qualified teachers with the right standards and competencies.
