Course work and exam done by year 3, all done after first born was in bed. Worked full time as a secondary science teacher the whole time. Pandemic working from home with 2 little ones in there too. It took me more or less 10 years. It was really hard but I am very proud of my work. I still work at school and I don't know how I am able to go on with my research.

It’s hard but manageable. What worked best for me was keeping PhD time tightly bounded - holidays and one day at the weekend. Also being relentlessly organised! Good luck - it’s a brilliant thing to do.
