For our recent article on heterogeneity and effect sizes my husband- a professional artist- painted a cover page. Unlikely that it will make the actual cover but the collaboration was so inspiring and humbling. I’ve learned so much!

Interested in behavioral science?

Imagine you are a manager between a framing intervention (lives lost/lives saved ), or set a default (one option preselected). Which changes choices more?
We tested 6000+ online participants in 11 samples. Which was more  effective?

This is one of the most exciting and innovative studies I have read in a long time. A real step forward in one of the greater challenges in psychology: dealing with heterogeneity in the effects we study.

This is a very important new paper that will likely change the way you think about your research: Heterogeneity in highly replicable effects is very large and varies systematically with where we collect data, in (somewhat) systematic ways.

I really think this is terribly disruptive & inconsiderate to block a road like this. Don’t the people responsible for causing this know that people have to get to work, get to daycare to pick up kids? Someone needs to be held responsible! We must not tolerate this.

A dog’s breed has less influence on its personality than you might think. Breed explained only around 9% of the variation in dog behaviour. nature.com/articles/d4158…

“We talk about breeds like they’re categorically different,” he says. “But in reality, that’s not the case.”

Listening to Shankar Vedantam and his fantastic guests on my all-time favorite podcast, Hidden Brain, largely inspired me to study behavioral science. So, it's pretty incredible to hear my academic mentor Eric J. Johnson featured in this superb episode about choice architecture!

The Biden administration just announced that they will begin leasing our public lands to oil and gas companies. This is highly distressing.

As the climate crisis threatens everything, more oil and gas leasing is insane policy.

Every climate scientist and environmental journalist should make a decision. Is our role merely to document the unfolding tragedy, with sighs and groans about the follies of humankind?
Or also to seek to stop the greatest catastrophe humanity has ever faced?
I say the latter.
