Today I saw long lines of blocked relief trucks waiting to be let into Gaza.

It’s time to truly flood Gaza with life-saving aid.

The choice is clear: surge or starvation.

Let’s choose the side of help, the side of hope & the right side of history.

I will not give up.

Every year, I undertake a solidarity mission during the holy month of Ramadan, a time for spreading compassion, community & peace.

This year, I have come to the Rafah crossing to spotlight the hardship and pain of Palestinians in Gaza – and the obstacles to easing their plight.

We were all once children.

The children of Gaza have a right to life.

We need a humanitarian ceasefire. Now.

Her name was Sidra. She was 7. This photo of her wearing a colourful jumper, and another of her body hanging from a wall, her legs ripped to shreds will forever be seared in my mind. Just when you think the heart cannot be more broken.History will not be kind #CeasefireNow #Rafah

A responsibility that belongs to us all - individually and collectively.

🚨 We CANNOT deliver humanitarian aid under fire.

With thanks to Razi Canikligil, Esra Sergi Bertani and I had the great pleasure to meet Haluk Levent at the United Nations today and hear about the great work of Ahbap & Haluk’s passion for humanitarian issues and interest in supporting the United Nations work globally.

Everyone in Gaza is hungry.

1.7 million people have been displaced.

The humanitarian system in collapsing.

I call for rapid, safe, unhindered, expanded & sustained humanitarian access throughout Gaza.

Withdrawing funds from UNRWA is perilous and would result in the collapse of the humanitarian system in Gaza, with far-reaching consequences in the occupied Palestinian territory and across the region.

My Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) colleagues and I appeal for these decisions to be reconsidered.

2 million civilians in Gaza depend on critical aid from UNRWA for daily survival. António Guterres strongly appealing to the governments that have suspended their contributions to, at least, guarantee the continuity of UNRWA’s operations.

Our common humanity is at the heart of the United Nations.

Racism & bigotry are a violation of everything we stand for.

We are determined to fight them in all their forms.

For me, this is a lifelong commitment.

For the United Nations, it is a foundational mission.

To those who opposed a clear reference to phase out of fossil fuels during the #COP28 Climate Conference, I want to say:

Whether you like it or not, fossil fuel phase out is inevitable. Let’s hope it doesn’t come too late.

Now, they live in the rubble without food, water, or safety.

Humanitarian assistance is a lifeline. It must be scaled-up and sustained.
