Victory Day is a yearly celebration in Cambodia that commemorates the fall of Khmer Rouge’s regime on January 7, 1979.

Last week, ISF’s Education Programme Team celebrated #InternationalLiteracyDay with the communities we work with, by raising awareness on the benefits of literacy and education for themselves and for their children.

After noticing athletes were travelling upwards of eight hours each way to participate in ISF’s football events, we made a commitment to make sporting opportunities more accessible. Last weekend, the Football team travelled over ten hours to host Rattanakiri Football Festival.

Thyda, one of 276 athletes who joined our Football for All Abilities Event this weekend shares the impact: “I really loved today, I got a chance to meet my friends and new people. I had so much fun and learnt a lot of vital skills. Football makes me confident and stronger.”

This past weekend, #isfcambodia welcomed 300 eager athletes to our six-week league’s closure of AIA - ISF Youth League in Phnom Penh in partnership with AIA Cambodia. This year, we’ve welcomed over 2,000 youth from four provinces across five fixtures.

Meet Ms Nimol and Ms Pov. After completing our Sewing Project, they started their own small business. Now, they’ve secured contracts to sew between 300 and 500 articles of clothing each month - earning enough income to support their entire families.

We believe education is learned beyond the classroom. To encourage and cultivate soft skills, our partner Vipassa NOEM Chhunny and H.E. Veng Sereyvuth invited our students to a mindfulness workshop. These valuable partnerships help develop well-rounded skills and experiences.

Although our holistic support is meant to mitigate hardships and challenges, our team knows we must listen, learn, and adapt. Working closely with the Community Engagement Team, we collaborate with teachers and community leaders to adjust and prioritise health and wellbeing.

ISF’s life-changing programmes lifted Bunleng out of poverty and inspired him to give back. After graduating top of his class, he joined a Taiwanese NGO that brings education and healthcare to disadvantaged communities in Cambodia. Learn more via the link in our bio.

In addressing mental and physical health, the United Nations shares yoga as a way to stay healthy while fighting isolation, depression, and anxiety. Alongside yoga, we are reintroducing Khmer Dance, P.E., and of course… football! #InternationalDayOfYoga

The 360 eager youth athletes were all smiles at the AIA - ISF Youth League opening in Kampong Speu. As we celebrate #FlashbackFriday and rewatch the league’s opening, we are humbled by the smiles and the positive impacts of the league.
