Collin’s Ghost Artists work is valuable. Watching it through illegal means that do not support the creator is a shitty thing to do. Call it what you want, but you're just saying 'actually it's fine if I'm an asshole' which, like, okay, but it's still a shitty thing to d

Collin’s Ghost you live in a fucking fantasy world divorced from the economic realities of the production of films. The money *could* exist. it *does* exist. People are just choosing not to spend it, but still watching the film. The money they choose not to spend on the movie is real.

Collin’s Ghost when you rent a movie you don't get a file to download. When you buy a movie ticket you don't get a file to download. You are paying for the service of watching the film, not the right. to own a copy. The only way to get a copy of the movie legitimately is to buy a physical copy

Collin’s Ghost Movies are the product of dozens if not hundreds of people collective labor. That labor is valuable. It’s not that complicated to just fucking respect that, especially for small films where the margins are narrow and no one involved expects to get rich. Just don’t be a dick.

Collin’s Ghost Ky Id prolly still qualify it as rendering personally if its trying to imitate some form of light play or texture play with different values. Once u step into the territory of different shades and shit on the same object I don't know that it qualifies as flats. once again tho idk if

Collin’s Ghost Rolo Tony oh absolutely, I think Rolo ⬆️ summed it up very well in his letterboxd review at the time, it’s just so painfully evident that the folks behind the film did minimal research into what live TV broadcasts from that era actually looked like

Collin’s Ghost screeners wouldn't be sent out by the filmmakers and distributors if they were not a net positive for the film's financial success. They don't just post the DCP online for everyone because that is obviously not in their financial interests. doing so without their consent is theft

Collin’s Ghost A person who simply would not watch movies without piracy doesn't exist. just a person who has decided that film isn't worth it to them to pay, and they'd rather take it for free, against the wishes and interests of the people who work incredibly hard to make the films they enjoy

Collin’s Ghost Sure, you can post about torrenting movies all you like. I sometimes post about it too. But it makes no sense to be upset if an artist sees it and decides to react in a perfectly understandable manner.

Collin’s Ghost Using a service provided to you and not compensating the people who provided it accordingly is theft. it is economic value taken from someone and not paid for. The act itself is harm. Not buying something is a zero, but pirating it is a negative

Collin’s Ghost Jack Eason I brought to the table as much as you brought to the table (and what you bring to the table to the world artistically, and in general) which is nothing. Nobody said torrenting is evil. You’re just making it a grand moral issue, like the loser you are.
