LS Lowry’s masterpiece Going to the Match will be on display at Williamson Art Gallery & Birkenhead Priory from 19 April.

The iconic painting will be displayed alongside other loaned works by LS Lowry and a selection from the Williamson’s own collection.

The exhibition runs until 27 July with free entry.

High tide at Parkgate on a grey day today. Thought the water wasn't gonna reach the wall, but amazing how quick the marshes then filled up.

Very busy with birdwatchers, and plenty of activity for them to view. Saw several crows picking off water voles and flying off with them.

James O'Hanlon Prior to the seizure of the Laird rams, Confederate agent JD Bulloch began a clandestine shipbuilding operation in France, when these vessels were embargoed, Peruvian Navy officers, including Lieutenant Miguel Grau, were sent to Bordeaux and Nantes to examine them for purchase.
