Thanks to our friends at EuroClio for welcoming us to the European history educator party! I learned so much (pretty sure I met educators from at least a dozen countries!) and cannot wait to continue building these transatlantic bridges.

I am so proud of this work. Over the last year, our team (staff and board) has collaborated on a renewed mission, vision, and values to guide us for the next three years. As always, educators are at the center of everything we do and strive to be.

I am so proud of this National Council for History Education team. Teachers felt loved and supported as professionals at our conference, which is exactly what we hoped for. I also got to fangirl Heather Cox Richardson (TDPR) in person and rock out Rock Hall. Just balm for my soul.

A4: I'm not in a classroom but I am on a school board. I wish more people knew what a school board can and can't do!

A2: We have to find ways to make the legislation and bills more accessible to teachers. There's no time to dive deep into legislation when you're busy teaching. How can we share, in a reasonable way, legislation and the ways it will impact teachers?

A1: In Minnesota, we have a trifecta of Democrats, as of 2022. We now have ethnic studies requirements for all grades.

I saw a lot of things in NYC today but I can’t stop thinking about these glorious Tiffany lamps. I would like one for every surface in my house, please. Thanks New-York Historical Society for the fantastic first visit!

A4: I'm really interested in the stories of women in rural areas. The work of women, paid and unpaid, is a cornerstone of rural life.

A3: I never thought that rural areas were culturally diverse until I started spending time in rural schools. It really opened my eyes.

A2: In the Midwest, rural history takes up a lot of space on our timelines. When I think of 19th century immigration, I usually think about folks on farms. And grasshopper plagues.

A1: Also, so much of the rural landscape that I see in my head is covered in snow, which is not everyone's experience!
