I hope everyone under 30 will show their disgust at this blank refusal by both major parties to give our youth the joy of mobility in Europe. Craven surrender to a minority of ageing Europhobes.Sunak rejects offer of youth mobility scheme between EU and UK theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

Alison Moore Yep. Increasingly it seems to me the GMC is troubled and takes the easy cases. Surgeon in Manchester accused (now proven) of both sexual misconduct and harming patients, never even got to an investigation stage. But if he had asked to borrow a laptop...?

The figures in NI are stark. As the lowest paid doctors in these islands, we are asking for urgent intervention from Dept of Health to ensure that we can recruit and retain sufficient doctors to deliver the service we need. Many of the issues with HSCNI are due to lack of staff.

The scaling back and scrapping of HS2 is one of the biggest symbols of failure in this country. But especially this - failing to have a direct connection between Manchester and Paris for want of a short tunnel in London. Brunel would’ve constructed this in a weekend as a side gig

My joint article with Louella Vaughan on GMC dystopian and disturbing vision for future of medical training, Prof Colin R Melville self-justifying blog (and by the way, they have not 'been listening' at all) and the sycophantic rush to endorse by Royal College of Physicians RCPEdin Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow

Wow, not seen this before. The UK (excluding London) is shockingly poor. Big problems with a mono-polar economy, even across a multinational union.

Recommendations for a timescale for the Royal College of Physicians, following the votes

In short: we need to move fast, both for our junior doctors and for the 3000 Faculty of PAs @ RCP members whom this affects

A very clear result; within Royal College of Physicians, the Officers need to consider the implications of the clear rejection of their position

Externally, NHS Employers - and esp the next Health Sec & his team - need to consider the implications: Wes Streeting MP Abena Oppong-Asare MP Karin Smyth MP

Looking at the US data, Department of Health and Social Care plans to delay the expansion of medical student numbers combined with GMC suggestion for doctors to use Google more seem remarkably risky & expensive in the circumstances

Much for Royal College of Physicians to discuss

Dr Sandeep Bansal Sarah Clarke Nonsense

We had all the data

We misrepresented it to give members a flavour of it, we were caught out. No apology. Then parrots Melville on trainees dissatisfaction with their training as reason for atrocious behaviour. Unbelievable.

It's that time of the week again where the Bar Council need to put out their statement on the inappropriateness of the PM saying Starmer doesn't share 'the values of the British people' because of his clients as a lawyer. It's time for the Lord Chancellor to rebuke Sunak too.

FIO request to UCAS shows 67% of PA study applicants also applied to medical school in 2020. So the current batch of PAs are practicing medicine actually failed to get into medical school. While the ones who did are still in medical school and will be paid 30% less than a PA
