Keir Starmer what is labours policy on this. Victims need free court transcripts and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak gave a poor response today.
Rishi Sunak Alex Chalk KC MP I spoke to M A Y A O P P E N H E I M 💃🏻 ✍️ in January about these appalling barriers to victims and survivor’s recovery:
‘It robs you, essentially, as a victim of crime, of your emotional capacity to come to terms with what you’ve experienced,’

Sarah Olney Juliana Terlizzi Thank you for standing up for victims and survivors voices, Sarah. The exploitative system that bars our therapeutic means of recovery is horrific. These are OUR stories, our lived experiences and we deserve a right to read them. Paying for that service is the borderline abuse.
Tune in this evening to this important series. Featuring the inspiring Juliana Terlizzi - among many other amazing brave women.
Sarah Olney well done on helping and supporting Juliana Terlizzi today in the House of Commons. I was absolutely gobsmacked to hear that she was going to be potentially charged over £7,5k this needs to change immediately Rishi Sunak totally unacceptable.
Your reminder that both Tories + The Labour Party are REFUSING to support victims/survivors calls to erase the exploitative costs of access court transcripts.
One rape survivor was quoted £7,500 for the transcript of her trial, another £22,000.
This harms victims + denies justice ⬇️
When I was quoted £7.5k to get the transcripts of my rape trial, I went to Sarah Olney asking for help. She listened and now we are so close to making transcripts accessible to victims. Will The Labour Party support us? Shabana Mahmood MP Keir Starmer OpenJusticeForAll
On Saturday Yvette Cooper said 'too many are being let down by the police and the criminal justice system.'
The Labour Party has the opportunity to support victims by backing SalBrinton 's amendment for court transcripts. Will they?
OpenJusticeForAll Shabana Mahmood MP Keir Starmer
Hi Sarah Champion we have yet to hear from The Labour Party if they will support the amendment. We urge
You to speak to Shabana Mahmood MP for backing.
Lovely to meet SalBrinton today, as she continues Sarah Olney effort to make transcripts accessible to victims.
Counting on The Labour Party to support us, if they say they care about victims, show us! Shabana Mahmood MP Keir Starmer Victims' Commissioner for England & Wales Ministry of Justice Ministry of Justice OpenJusticeForAll
Spent today in Westminster talking to MPs and Journo’s. Thanks for your support. what I really want is The Labour Party putting their money where their mouths are. Back the call for #OpenJusticeForAll - free access to judges summing up and sentencing. Shabana Mahmood MP OpenJusticeForAll
Charging victims £20k for their court transcripts is unacceptable. I'm fully behind the OpenJusticeForAll campaigners and their #VictimsandPrisonersBill amendments. Let's make our voices heard and demand a fairer justice system for all.
