Does anyone else struggle with grieving their old self?

One thing healthy people don’t understand about chronic illness is the fact that many of us have to do this.

Mourn who we once were.

Mourn that certain activities we loved, we may never be able to do again.

The fight against long COVID is not just a medical one. It is a moral one.

Long COVID can have devastating consequences and too many people now face debilitating symptoms as a result.

How many Americans need to suffer before Congress acts boldly to address this crisis?

Sometimes I think about the collective suffering that millions of us with are experiencing, and it kills me.

That society has abandoned us is unforgivable.

We’re at the stage of the pandemic where the mainstream media mocks behavior modifications to avoid an airborne virus that has injured or killed millions- calling it an irrational fear or anxiety issue- as World Health Organization (WHO) creates an unfounded threat level downgrade to support this position.

This is such an abelist way to framing of how long COVID affects a whole family. Rather than highlighting the systemic issues that lead to CV families lives becoming smaller, it frames the risk aversion of an LC affected person as 'anxiety'

I’m tired of people telling me to just stay positive.

Here’s a reminder you don’t have to stay positive all the time with an illness that affects you so negatively 24/7.

The thing with is that it's often not exclusively POTS or MCAS or microvascular inflammation or endothelial dysfunction or profound exhaustion or tinnitus or eye problems or neuropathy or constant pain... etc. It's often all of those things at the same time in 1 person

If I had known what COVID could do to me I would have preferred to be a hermit forever and never leave my room again. Believe me, wearing a respirator is a sacrifice you would be willing to make if you knew what severe was like.
