I was sectioned on a children’s mental health unit when I was 16. I was undiagnosed autistic. My daily meltdowns were interpreted as ‘hysterical attacks when she does not get her own way’. I was labelled with a personality disorder. And left traumatised. #Dispatches

Mary Meredith 🇺🇦 Anecdotally in Scotland, of those referred with anxiety related absence, 50% were diagnosed autistic. Many of the other 50% shared similar thinking styles, unmet sensory & communication support needs. We need a need a neurodevelopmental lens on this issue bit.ly/3RQv5px
