I encourage everyone to share this widely.

As Dr. Wesley says, this isn't politics as usual.

'...these new measures are unprecedented.

Alberta’s drift toward authoritarianism hasn't happened overnight, but we cannot allow ourselves to become desensitized.'

Huge congratulations to the thousands of Albertans who immediately stood up and denounced Smith’s cruel plan to hurt low-income people in our province.

Now, let’s continue to work together and demand she stop her government’s undemocratic overreach into our municipalities.

While we are disappointed and dismayed by the trustees’ decision to reinstate the Student Resource Officer (SRO) program at EPSB, we are not done here. Every student deserves a safe, equitable, welcoming and inclusive environment in our public schools.

A few years ago, I got to illustrate this powerful story about the positive impacts of 's low income transit pass program for everyday folks. I'd be sad to see the funding for this program cut.

Yep. Or to look at it another way, I suspect that if the UCP government started properly funding things that are in their jurisdiction -- health, housing, social services, etc. -- cities would probably be happy to take on the full cost of low-income transit passes.

Time for unions, retired politicians of all stripes, academics, student associations, journalists, municipal politicians, columnists, faith leaders, etc to speak out about the rising tide of authoritarianism in Alberta. A must read and share via Jared Wesley

I’m confused. Very confused. So, Durham police officers chased an LCBO thief through the wrong direction on the 401, which eventually resulted in a multi-vehicle collision that took the lives of two grandparents and a baby.

Was this the best approach? Why pursue an alcohol…

I covered a lot of council mtgs and I still remember this one.

The low income transit pass means people living in extreme poverty can take the bus for $5 a month.

They can get to appointments, classes & the grocery store. It's a lifeline.

1/5 In the midst of an affordability crisis, the Govt of Alberta is walking away from supporting struggling Calgarians by ending the standing provincial funding contribution to Calgary's Low Income Transit Pass program, plus one-year funding for an additional seniors’ pass.
