More costs added to the ‘eat out to help out’ scheme as documents finally released about the £2 million spent on focus groups to try and get public to support an idea for which no scientists were consulted and almost certainly accelerated a second wave 😡 theguardian.com/business/2024/…

NHS work done by Private Sector

On the face of it a ‘good idea’ but wait….

The money spent is not then invested in the NHS, the private sector do this at a profit & long term capacity is lost form NHS making NHS a more reliant

How much data, repeated how many times do we need to see before we understand that “social” care must be fixed?

And not just to help treat people at the front doors of our hospitals, but to support those people stuck in hospital who don’t want or need to be.

Ed Savill Also patients staying in hospital for three weeks or more when they are medically fit to leave rose from an average of 2,350 in October 2020 to 6,390 patients in December 2022. Some of this is NHS fault agreeing ongoing care but a lot is social services too.

Ed Savill Last years ADASS report said there had been an 8% increase to waiting lists for social care with 470,000 older and disabled people waiting for care to start, direct payments or their care needs to be assessed.

We've more than halved the number of district nurses since 2010.

A&E rising demand isn't driving long waits in A&E. Attendance rates are not dramatically up from pre-pandemic levels. The real issue is collapse of social/community care provision & some increased acuity. This is driving longer stays & means fewer open beds for ppl to go into

Dear @WesStreeting,

The next government must be an evidence-based government. If you can show that a reform will improve patient care and save taxpayer money, then we’ll have your back. If not, we’ll oppose it. It’s quite simple. The era of ignoring expertise is over.
