This is one of the biggest injustices. I have residents who are ripped off by management company charges with little to show for it. We need more powers for residents for transparency and ease for them to replace mgmt companies or take mgmt of their building into their own hands.

Great to speak with Rosanna Lockwood on the leasehold scandal and sky-high service charges. Broadcasters generally shun this topic so a big thank you to her for the coverage and for caring. It’s telling that the Residential Freehold Association couldn’t field anyone to debate us. Not even an intern!

She moved into her £215,000 one-bed flat in March 2022 after reading an estate agent’s brochure which said service charge was £600 a year.
But upon moving in, found out it was £1,400 that year. Then in 2023 it was £2,800. & this year it will be £5,500.

Pleased to contribute to this documentary by Barry Gardiner. Too few people (including those in power) understand the difficulties of leasehold. There is no solution to the UK housing crisis that doesn't involve fixing it.

Leasehold is an outdated, draconian system. It needs abolished.

Thank you Barry Gardiner. This is an excellent, if not depressing portrayal of how the exploitation of leasehold must be abolished. It’s also a rebuttal of the freeholder lobbyist claim that the scale of this scandal is exaggerated by a vocal minority over stating the problems.

Watching the film actually made me quite emotional.
