''The Fall Guy' is, first and foremost, a passionate, high-octane, two-hour love letter to movie stunts and the people who make them.'—Olivia Rutigliano/@oliviarutigliano.bsky.social on David Leitch’s new rom-com stunt spectacular. lithub.com/falling-hard-f…

A lot of people keep referencing Rosa Parks, so can we please tell the Rosa Parks bus story properly? It’s actually more telling that way. She DID NOT try to sit in the front of the bus. What actually happened might be more telling for how power is used and wielded. /1

The current crack-down is predicated on the idea that pro-Palestine protestors are violent and pose a unique threat to academic well-being. This is the core lie and it is spread by both Eric Adams and Joe Biden.

Rosa Parks was SUPPOSED to be in the back of the bus (BY LAW) and she said NO. I will sit in the front. She violated the law but that law was unjust and it sparked the civil rights movement in the South. Do not tell me that law matters more than morality.

the girl shredded in half

the bodies left out to rot

Columbia President Shafik sits on the Pulitzer Prizes board, which praises the student journalists for braving through violence and gaslighting, which Shafik publicly endorsed and sanctioned. I’m having a kafkaesque moment here.

The 46 protesters arrested inside a Columbia University building were charged with trespassing, a Class B misdemeanor.

The 22 protesters arrested inside a City College building were charged with 3rd-degree burglary, a Class D felony. cityandstateny.com/policy/2024/05…

don’t really see anyone talking about this but: arrestees at CUNY were charged with *felonies* while arrestees at Columbia were charged with misdemeanors. nobody should be charged with anything but it is a travesty that poorer & racialized students bear the brunt of this struggle

Feels kind of silly to have to say this but damage to property is not violent. Shooting college students in the face with rubber bullets is extremely violent however. Hope that helps

In his letter from Birmingham Jail, Martin Luther King, Jr., told us the white moderate “is more devoted to ‘order’ than to justice” and said this is someone who “prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice.”

It's simply wild to have real-time evidence that the truly violent actors are the police and counterprotesters, and then have the leader of the free world say this.

Also, like, who cares about windows? Honest to god. You can replace a damn window.
