Women shouldn’t have to tell personal abortion stories to make men who don’t understand biology not vote for politicians who will kill us…

Trust women.

Audre Lorde distinguishes between pain and suffering. Pain is an experience that must be named and used such that it can be transformed into something else like strength, knowledge or action. Suffering is 'unscrutinized and unmetabolized pain' that is not used for growth.

1. One of the most important Senate campaigns this year is in Ohio.

The GOP nominee, Bernie Moreno, has made being 'tough on China' a centerpiece of his campaign

And, on the trail, he tells a couple of stories to bolster this claim

Just one problem: the stories are lies

Arguing that progressive education is not evidence-based is about the least evidence-based position imaginable. Usually used as an indicator of ideology, not of understanding.

My theory about education is that we actually have no idea what is happening enough in individual classrooms to make generalizations across the industry.

More than anything, Moms For Liberty wants to use popsci narratives about reading to radicalize you toward their base issues: persecuting trans kids, driving a wedge between teachers, kids & parents, and getting tax credits.

In all my years in a testing grade, I have yet to see a single test passage centering the language, culture or experiences of urban Black or Brown youth & their communities.

I can only assume this is by design.

M4L cares so much about literacy that it didn't even make the agenda when Gov. Kim Reynolds attended their Iowa summit in 2023!

Instead the focus was on 'rooting out 'indoctrination'' by ending critical race theory, gender affirming care, & social-emotional learning.

My professor hot take is that trusting students makes life so much better than assuming they're all lying or trying cheat on everything.

It is disheartening but not surprising that another strict SOR advocate is also ok with bigots who ban books as long as it isn’t their precious decodables.

Listen, if you are willing to not only support but amplify a hate group to promote yourself you are not an advocate for kids. If you can put aside that a group has actually tried to erase LGTBQ books and representation from schools you have no credibility. 1/2

Apropos of nothing, is it too much to ask that New Jersey have competent education writers? We lost Linh Tat and Carly Sitrin and now we have someone who apparently can’t do a simple google search. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Imagine saying you are advocate for all kids while celebrating the work Moms 4 Liberty does. How outrageous. An actual classified hate organization and a “literacy expert” claims they are trying to help kids LOL

I don’t have the bandwidth for this right now. But newsflash, the same folks pushing vouchers are also pushing science of reading. Mississippi was not a miracle. Is it too much to talk to actual scholars on the topic of reading? Russ Walsh Paul Thomas
