Premature preterm rupture of membranes (water breaking before 40 weeks) is associated with 30-40% of preterm deliveries. It complicates 3% of all pregnancies and occurs in approximately 150,000 pregnancies yearly in the United States.

Under proposed guidance from the Texas Medical Board, doctors who perform life-saving abortions would have to document whether they tried to transfer the patient to avoid performing an abortion.

The Arizona Supreme Court upheld the state's 1864 near-total ban on abortion.
