Meet Issac, Abraham, the Ram & the Angel of The Lord. Donald Richie & Isabel Gibbins chose this biblical scene to commemorate the loss of their 5 children, perhaps because it speaks of Faith, Sacrifice & the power of The Lord. Their relatability emphasised by the 18thC clothing.

16 April.
7.6 miles 🥾🥾 from Culloden House to Culloden Moor-REALLY following the Jacobite Prince who was here 278 years before.
The original 16thC Culloden House was Jacobite battle HQ. Mostly burnt down in retaliation it was rebuilt in the 18thC.

1/ Did the masquerade ever get ‘too political’? It’s a tricky question. Because the answer is yes and no. Dressing as ‘a Highlander’ was one of the more contentious choices of masquerade costume—especially during the 1740s.

Many of the hymns date to the 18thc & passed down through the generations. Steffan said They’re conversational & the lyrics feel so current. There were committees who would choose what hymns would go into the hymn books. These were the unchosen ones, the ones...

Giles Udy The Telegraph An essay in the program to a National Theatre reading of The Ancient Mariner took pains to explain how 18thC sea trade was involved in colonialism, exploitation etc etc. A whole industry is devoted to spreading this miserable midwittery; it's pervasive, malign and must be fought.
