I've been sharpening a knife in the bathroom
On a brick I got from the garden
No one will fuck with me again

Listened to this again today for the millionth time and well, it's just fucking astonishing isn't it? #5albums83
๐ค Those insistent drums and distinctive vocals... Southern Death Cult is another very strong contender for me #5albums83 ๐ค

#5albums83 perhaps unsurprisingly, this one's proving really hard to rank. And to choose who misses out. Bauhaus and Xmal Deutschland will be on my list, so I suppose I must somehow pick 3 from these 4...
Not sure if live albums can be included in #5albums83 but I'm having a nice start to my Friday listening to ๐๐๐
#AlbumClosingSongs Day 13
Talking Heads
โThis Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)โ
โSpeaking In Tonguesโ

EYELESS IN GAZA
When I think of 1983, I'm initially drawn to early synth bands and new romantics, but within the mix was this rather lovely duo who, amazingly, are still making music together and have produced over twenty albums since 1980.

R.E.M. - Murmur (1983)
#nowspinning this garage rock jangle pop masterpiece. Early REM is best REM, right? youtu.be/PNi7Kt0iOH4
Walked past the modest turning in Eastbourne this morning where one of the greatest LPs of the 80s was recorded.

OMD
The most underrated band of their time? Or maybe that's just me bein slow on the uptake...

ECHO & THE BUNNYMEN
'The Cutter' was the first track I heard by the Bunnys - and 'Never Stop' went one better (not on the album, but thankfully added to later extended versions). The sleeve art is iconic.

The Chameleons - Script of the Bridge
Ridiculously underrated band and album, this will be in my 5
#5albums83

2, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - Dazzle Ships
3, Rain Parade - Emergency Third Rail Power Trip
4, Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues
5, Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones
Thanks Richard Shaw !
#5albums83 One of the joys of doing these polls is rediscovering stuff I havenโt heard in ages, embarrassed to say I probably havenโt played this since the โ80โs! Superb album that sounds a bit like a heavier Bunnymen/Teardrop Explodes. Serious contender!
